I was searching through a Time magazine paragraph yesterday and found that there is a thing called a skype phone that was sweeping the net.These two are now rich beyond their craziest expectations because of selling their brainwave to one of the premier sites on the web,e bay.You are probably wondering what I am going on about.Many know it as skype.This idea of calling someone for nothing over the internet is not a new one.
Basically then you will be able to chat to whoever you like whenever you like wherever they are in the world and can even see them if you have skipe and a web cam.It is essentail you get a rapid connection as quickly as you can.Video bandwidth does not justify clarity over a 56 k modem .
Ebay the massive auction site is also auctioning skyp phones.I guess it's been around for a couple of years already but it's catching on fast..
The bigger commercial telecom firms are beginning to sell voice over internet protocol packages.The question on everyones lips is will it last the distance.Will the net spell the end for voice over ip.
My guess is that it is still in its infancy and inevitably will go through a phase where a lot of different companies will come up with different ways to do this.Then inevitably the feds will enter and regulate it.At the moment skype makes its money by charging people who phone land lines from their computer using it.
It seems like voice over interet protocol is also at the forefront of web video conferencing as well. Voice Over IP comes pretty close, except that it will be eventually typified as an internet phone service, ready to take that next step of video conferencing which gained a lot of attention years ago.
My opinion is that audio and video over the net, especially over a broadband connection will gain in popularity.Some people claim that audio and video will be no big deal but I disagree, I think it will be massive.
The next decade will be make or break for the world of voip and only the consumers will tell us whether the free skype download is worth shouting home about.We will know fairly soon how it manages .
